Bridging to success
Welcome to Goshen Integration Tutoring Academy's Bridging Programs, designed to support newcomer, refugee, and asylum-seeking students in Kindergarten to Grade 9 as they transition into the Canadian school system. We understand the unique challenges these students face and are here to help them thrive.
Our bridging programs
We offer specialized bridging programs tailored to meet the individual needs of newcomer students. Our approach focuses on understanding their unique backgrounds and providing the support they need to succeed in Alberta classrooms.
Academic readiness
Addressing academic gaps in reading, writing, and math to ensure students are prepared for their grade level.
Language support
Providing targeted English language support to help students improve their communication skills and confidence.
Social-emotional support
Offering guidance and support to help students adjust socially and emotionally to their new school environment.
The GITA advantage
Our bridging programs are designed specifically for children who need a short-term boost to get them ready for the right grade. We provide the skills and confidence they need to succeed in an Alberta classroom from day one.
Addressing the challenges
We understand that adjusting to a new academic standard can be difficult. Newcomer students often face challenges like:
- Different educational levels than Alberta’s expectations
- Interrupted or inconsistent schooling
- Limited English language skills
- No transcripts or unclear academic records
- Difficulty understanding classroom routines and expectations
Start the registration process
The easiest way for families to begin is to book an intake assessment with GITA. This allows us to meet the child, review their background, identify needs, and determine the right grade level.
Families can:
- Book an intake appointment online or by phone
- Complete a short registration form
- Bring any school documents they have (if available)
